I have had a pro-life stance since the 90s. It really all started when I was forced to watch an abortion video in one of my nursing classes. Not only was I disgusted by the sounds and the visual, permanently etched in my memory, but I was deeply saddened. Saddened not only by the loss of this innocent life, but by the potential detrimental loss to this woman’s emotional and psychological well being. I had personal acquaintances who had lost their babies to elective abortions and it changed their lives forever.

I did not always have this strong pro-life stance. Before seeing this video, I too believed that women should be allowed to make their own choice. Interestingly, I knew I could never make that choice, but I thought it was OK for others to do so. I thought the government should have no say so with what each woman should do with her own body. I have learned a lot more about this topic through self study, personal observation and alignment with my religious beliefs. I was fooled by the women’s rights movement into believing that a woman should forgo her maternal instincts for the sake of power and equality. I believe now that we women can show our power by standing up for the rights of the unborn.

I have made it a personal mission to educate people about pro-life issues, including protection of our nation’s most vulnerable: unborn babies, infirm elderly and susceptible women faced with difficult choices.
